Use Our Secure Server For Free!
Use of our secure server is free for you(with the purchase of a commerce account). You would be able to accept important information from your customers such as their credit card payment info and other valuable data that you or your customers would not want to slip into the wrong hands.
This is how it works:
You would have forms to accept data from your customers. These could be as many forms as you wish and they would reside anywhere at your domain location. This makes it possible for you to change them as often as you like without needing to first get permission and then gain special access to our secure server, which is often the case with other services.
Let's say you have a form on your site and you wish to collect the info by means of the secure server. The form is located at:
http://yourdomain.com/products/order.html
You would simply need to reference a link as:
https://ourdomain.com/ssl/yourusername/products/order.html
To get this location you would take
https://ourdomain.com/ssl/yourusername/
and then add the page name location at your domain including any directories.
When a customer advances to this link our secure server will grab the page from your site and serve it as its own. This way any data entered will be encrypted and remain on the secure server until you retrieve it from your private administration directory. You may, if you choose, at that point have your customer sent to a special 'thank you' page that you have created at your domain, if not then a default 'thank you' page will appear for them with a link to your site. You may also require them to supply specific data or an error page will pop up and then they must fill in the missing data to be able to actually submit the form. If you choose, an acknowledgement of their submission to your secure form will be emailed to them. You will receive a notification sent by email when someone has submitted information by one of your secure forms so that you may then fetch it from your private administration directory. This directory will be located on the secure server and is password protected, this way only you will be able to view the encrypted data that your customer has sent you.
A couple of other neat things this system does is that it can validate that the proper form of an email address or credit card number have been entered and display an error page asking to return and correct if not. This does not provide an actual check that either exist, only that they meet strict criteria for being entered in the proper syntax, however, if a non-existant email address has been entered and you have chosen to send them an acknowledgement of their submission then you will receive by email a notice that it does not exist.
